FORT MYERS, FLA. – Manager Ron Gardenhire leaned back in his chair following the Twins’ 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday and said, “Defense, defense, defense. We really like defense.”

If they're serious about playing Dozier at 2B over Carroll, he better start hitting, because we know Florimon won't hit, and you just can't have that many offensive liabilities on the team. I mean, who are you going to bat second??? Really, the only logical thing to do for the first couple months at least, to best protect Hicks, is to bat Carroll second and give him the everyday 2B job. Otherwise, what could be a potent offense might not click.

"who are you going to bat second"...The usual suspects are weak-hitting, good bunting, under-nourished second basemen who will get after it; who will battle their tails off and who will be fun to watch. (as much fun as watchig two people fishing)

Glad to see the defense picking itself up this year. There really is no excuse for poor defense as this can be improved just by good coaching and lots of practice.

What about offense offense offense?? This team has exactly four major league hitters and a whole lot of non hitting middlie infielders or unproven neophytes. I expect us to have one of the worst offenses in the league. Hey, but we can catch the ball and throw the ball so let's all celebrate! Gardy needs to go after this year. Enoughs enough

The offense offense offense besides Mauer, Morneau and Willingham are the studs that will be coming up from the minors later this year and next year. The Twins will wait for these guys to develop and they will be fine once they're up here. (Sano, Arcia, Buxton and others.)
