DENVER – Tuesday’s lack of response by Wild players to rookie Jason Zucker being on the receiving end of a head shot from Anaheim’s Corey Perry has received criticism from fans in the Twittersphere.

I really am getting tired of these fans that think hockey = fighting or retaliation...it doesn't. I know that, many players know that..but somehow these fans can't get it through their thick skulls...retaliation usually gets you 2 minutes in the box...not worth it give up a power play goal. Yeh watch me get the thumbs downs.

whoa...I'm a nerd and actually emailed Russo regarding the lack of physical and emotional thump on this team-why wild cant bang on seperate issues with zucker and clutterbuck getting hurt and conversally when we do get physical (canucks) it totally changes the wild dynamic(positive!).I am completly surprised Russo basically backed away from the issue and said NOTHING. According to the blog Knopka said nobody saw the zucker hit? Seriously? I call BS. And the viwers aren't asking to bang Perry specifically, but a BODY, ANYBODY on the ducks. I've played hockey thru college and I will tell you SOMEBODY gets payback for those 2 hits-except on the wild. No leadership(koivu)/no heart...get a REAL captian. And for those that say retaliation is wrong or not part of sports has never been on a competitive team...truth.

If ZK is going to claim that nobody on the team saw the Zucker hit, OK fine. But what is the excuse for nobody doing anything after the Hall hit on Clutterbuck? That was at centerice in front of Gretzky and everybody and there was no response from the team, except some angry quips in the paper the next day. Sometimes you throw the "rules" aside show that you have the backs of the rest of the guys on the team.

I think you guys missed ZK's "read between the lines" point - he basically said there will be retaliation, just not immediate and not outside the rules. We WILL see the Ducks (and Perry) again, we WILL see Hall again (too wimpy to play us the next game, but he can't feign injury every time), and when we do, something will happen. Patience is a virtue, peeps.

I am a Konopka fan, and a Rupp fan. I thought you guys said Rupp was a punching bag? Far from it! I give them a bye since no one clearly saw the hit. The do need to make retribution at some point. Watch all of the other teams in the league. A star gets hit, they are all over the guy that hit him. That is part of the game. If you dont like it, watch golf. I have a lot of respect for the enforcers. Besides having to play hockey, they have to take on the biggest guys in the league! I sure do miss Boogie! We havent forgot about you Derek and never will! Everyone should read the book, The Code. Back in the day they said if you fell on the ice against a certain team, you had better get up right away or so and so will kick the bejesus out of you! I disagree with the comment the MK is heartless, he is far from it.

I think it's possible that no one saw the Zucker hit because of how far behind the play it was. Remember Zucker was in the corner and he moved the puck all the way back to the point before he was hit. I don't think anyone watching at home saw it until a replay was shown. I'm just glad the league did something this time, instead of sticking their head in their bum like in the Bogosian incident.

Ogie Oglethorp would have followed Perry home if he had to and today we would be calling him Puffy Face Perry!

The kid got hit with a cheap shot. It will be repaid, I promise you, the Ducks guy will be looking over his shoulder. It was dirty and done to a rookie. With this messed up schedule, there are no games vs. duckies unless we met them in the playoffs. Players have good memories it will be repaid and it should. Rules of the games still stand, Shannahan or not, some duck is going to get quacked.
