Christians have been voting for Republican's for 30+ years hoping to see abortion regulated more properly or actually overturned. Abortion makes all of us uncomfortable at some point in the pregnancy process. Late term abortions are murder, maybe nearly all abortions are murder. Lets see what happens.

"...Another measure would prohibit abortions sought because a fetus has been or could be diagnosed with any genetically inherited defect, disease or disorder without exception for those that are fatal. No other state has barred abortions because of evidence that a fetus has a genetic defect such as Down syndrome, which rises in incidence with maternal age, leading many women to seek tests for the disorder...." UN-FREAKING-REAL! This bill illustrates the biggest single reason why I have a real hard time voting for Republicans - your ranks are infested with bible-thumpin' fascists!

Add this to my previous comment ---- If this provision of " no abortions for ANY adverse genetic conditions detected, fatal or not " isn't a good example of American Sharia law, I don't know what is!

The problem is that having a heart, does not make something a human person; what does that, is having a rational mind or "spirit" or soul, most philosophers agree. Squirrels and newts have hearts; but they are not human persons. Accordingly the Bible itself warned over and over, that our "hearts" are often deceptive, and are not the core of our being therefore: "Their hearts overflow with follies" (Ps. 73.7); "A heart ... devises wicked plans" (Prov. 6.18); "the heart is deceitful above all things" (Jer. 17.9); "For out of their heart come evil thoughts" (Mat. 15.19); "they deceive the hearts of the simple-minded" (Rom. 16.18). In fact, that is the problem: many people, especially women, suppose that the "heart" is reliable and good, and is the core of all that it means to be a human person. But that isn't what the Bible says. Actually? "The heart is deceitful above all things."
