Wild notes: Bouchard keeps working

After a practice at St. Thomas Academy — one with high intensity and a lot of offensive work — Wild coach Mike Yeo was willing to talk about anything except lineups.

Bouchard's working hard? Yeah, and so is Mitchell, Zucker, Coyle, Clutter...you get the idea. Who cares? Whatever PMB's past, he's just not an effective player any longer. And for a change--rather than the Wild counting on HIM and having HIM decide he can't play because of "lingering symptoms" when the Wild most needs him--the Wild has the luxury of this time saying, "Well, Butch, we don't really need you anymore." It's refreshing, but let's hope Yeo grows a spine and just sits this guy down as a healthy scratch from here on out. If not, name ONE guy he should replace. You can't. He's a step down in replacing anyone. Just move him out already.

I trust Yeo. I also see PMB's play, not good. I didnt think he played that well last game, ok, but not well. You can tell he is still afraid to be hit and he is tentitive on the ice. Cant have that PMB. What do you have to lose? So you get hurt again and your career is over? The way you are playing now, your career is over. Seems like an easy decision to me. Be fearless little man.

both caferev and mrbluesky are right. I do have to say I enjoyed watching Butch when he was at his best; but that just is not the case today. Btuch needs to either man up or call it quits.

I gotcha - Yeo finally found 4 great lines and rolled with them for a number of games that the wild looked great in. But we got some dude that used to be good, and who now needs to be traded before every other team figures out that he isn't anymore, and we don't want to hurt his feelings, so let's shake it up. Yeah, that makes sense

Bouchard would be better off playing in Europe where the game is less physical. The number of small forwards in the NHL who can take the pounding and continue to be effective is a short list getting shorter. Bouchard has never been an elite level player and now he looks like he'd be more at home in the ice capades.

"This is a tough time,” Bouchard said. “It’s not a fun situation. But, overall, I’m staying positive. I’m working hard in practices"....too bad it isn't in games, 'butch'..and i use that name lightly. he's fine for a shift or 2-every now and agian, but overall you have to get your nose dirty in hockey and he'd (IMHO) play swiss hockey (without hitting). he was good, now not-so-much.
