Dear Amy: My live-in boyfriend of five years has recently rekindled a friendship with a girl he knew in grade school. Twice in the last week he has invited her to our home to play pool, have a lot of drinks and soak in our hot tub.

LW#1 - nothing has happened yet that you are aware of but, by the way he turns it on you, it has or will happen. Why is her boyfriend not invited over as well and does he even know that she is coming over? Sounds like trouble to me and if he can't respect your feelings it may be time to say goodbye.

agree with klmoon, I dated a girl who was just like the live-in boyfriend. either your partner respects and cares about how you feel, or he/she doesn't, and when you take a step away, it's really not that hard to figure out.

If after 5 years you cannot speak to your boyfriend "rationally" about a topic that seriously bothers you, the relationship is doomed. It doesn't matter what the topic is, a girl in the hot tub or drinking too much; he clearly does not respect your feelings. He doesn't take you seriously. If I were you I would be moving towards a break-up. Find a new place to live or research eviction proceedings in your area, and get rid of this guy. He doesn't love you.
