We have a huge conventional and nuclear arsenal built up over 60 years and a snot nosed punk in a 4th world county throws a temper tantrum and we have to spend how much more money? And this system doesn't even work and never will? Wow. Another "missile gap" problem.

Obama's best defence might be to just bend over and intecept the N. Korean Taepodong-II. Just saying...

I bet we can look into the inventory of weapons the US has built up over the past 60-years and find a whole pile of unused goodies without spending another dime.

Too bad we dont have that 60 million Obama pledged to syrian opposition or that other 250 million Obama pledged to Egypt in the last two weeks to help out but Im sure funding the Muslim brotherhood will work out well for America....right deep thinkers

Korea should hope if they were to really launch a missile that the US does intercept it. They may thus forestall the inevitable end to their existence. 1 billion dollars is 3 hundredths of one percent of the typical recent US budget.

I sure hope the level of intelligence in North Korea is higher than the level of intelligence expressed in here today. Maybe they will listen to reason and back down on those threats. A young, immature person like Kim Jung Un with an itchy trigger finger can cause a lot of suffering for not just his countrymen but also in South Korea, and Japan. If we didn't blow him to Mars someone else just might. But a bigger issue is him selling a bomb to Iran or someone else like a terrorist with a big burr up someplace. Missles we can defend against. A bomb smuggled into the country would be really bad.

Why are we not anchored off of the Korean peninsula and using their test missiles as targets for a test of our ABM system.

Gotta love the right winger's cheaps shots at Pres Obama. The rw longs for the day when Bush/Cheney would simply solve the problem by invading and occupying North Korea to rid the world of the 28 year old tyrant. Their prediction would be that we could pay for such an invasion & occupation (Iraqi oil) by selling the scrape metal we will get by destroying the North Korean armor. Hows that working out fot the USA in Iraq?

N. Korea has played this game for years and is expecting we pay them with food and money to back off their threats and nuclear program. It is time to say enough and leave them alone. If they launch a missile we drop the big one on them. Or, just send in the drones and take out all the madmen that run the asylum.
