It is beyond annoying that the media obsess over this whole story. Yes, there are lots of Catholics in the world, yes, this is a big event, but good grief - we have heard stories about Prada shoes, tailors who make vestments, the chemistry of the smoke generator, and on and on ad nauseum. The real story here should be how the Vatican hierarchy exists in a bubble, capable of assuming that the rest of us must necessarily care about these trivial things. Francis will find that Benedict has left a real mess to clean up.
