wife is currently trying to book a cruise. i mention "have you seen that two ships in as many months have had trouble at sea?" her reply "yep, but we are not sailing with them" my simple chain of thought.... boat, ocean, lots of water. cant swim well and can only drink that much liquid if it is beer. heavily suggesting B&B up in Duluth or something on land

Well if you look its Carnival line. I honestly have been looking into cruises and I will not use Carnival when I do finally get to book. All these cruise issues lately really doesnt fill my confidence

2 within less than a month, right? Carnival, at this point needs to come under some scrutiny.

Carnival simply buys the cheapest motors and generators possible and this is what happens. Quality does come at a cost but Carnival does not care.

you can't pronounce "cruise" without "ooze." perhaps folks need to investigate liners a couple notches above the Yugo level

Folks, keep this in mind with even larger mega-ships. HOW do you rescue a whole city and what would the wait lines be to get them home????

Just as all hotels or restaurants are not the same, neither are all cruise companies. Carnival is lowest cost, but ..you get what you pay for.

It makes you wonder if the previous troubled ship that was dead in the water in the middle of the gulf of Mexico had a known problem with the back-up generator when they left port. Maybe all of the back-up generators are iffy. At least they had the sense this time not to leave port with no back-up.

I've taken two Carnival cruises in the last year and had a thoroughly delightful experience. After the Triumph debacle, I did a little research. I learned that Carnival has over 4 million passengers each year. I also learned that the follow-up survey all receive post-cruise has a consistent 95% satisfaction rating. I am just one of those satisfied customers and I plan to cruise Carnival next year as well. As to the Dream ship's issue, I'd take an extra day on St Maartin's and a direct flight home any time!

The Dreamliners are still grounded, aren't they?
