I find this interesting, I own farmland in Iowa of around 1,680 acres. I could put all this land in the Conservation and Wetland program for a goverment rent check of $500,000 per year. This is basically to not farm my land and not plant corn. The goverment does not require me to get wetlands credit to grow corn on farmland that I took out of the wetland program. I would be an idiot to not grow corn on these acres, it is an $850/acre net profit to grow corn for China on this 1,680 acres in Iowa or a yearly profit of $1.5 Million dollars. You can see why we love the Chinese in Iowa, they send Billions and Billions of there money to Iowa farmers to grow field corn for them to feed to there pigs.

Looks to me like thuggery by the government. This is just the government extorting money from developers. We do not need these mud holes. Just another way to fund salaries for overpaid government employees.

I've never understood how buying 'wetland credits' preserves critical wetland habitat. You cannot preserve natural wetlands by buying land elsewhere especially in this case where the wetland feeds a stream/river. This should never be allowed to happen but does every day.
