Not appearing in court? Pretty well never a good idea. They've hosed their case, and good on 'em for it.

Maybe I'm not understanding something? These lawyers and their clients don't actually own the copyrights but they're threatening to turn the illegal downloaders into the rightful copyright holders unless the downloaders pay them a fee? Sounds like blackmail.
