R ick Spielman officially became the Vikings general manager on Jan. 3, 2012. While Spielman was previously the VP of player personnel and had input on shaping the roster, the move gave a clear signal as to who is in charge. Here is how Spielman has handled five tough decisions since then:

Khalil was a no brainer, and Ponder is far from a success so far, but maybe avoid the bust tag. Cutting Antoine may seem like a tough move, but if his agent was unwilling to restructure, again it becomes a no brainer. This GM is similar to his QB, and that means it is simply that he's not going to be a complete bust, but odds are he's very very average. Worth every penny he's paid, just like they all are. Cause if Ziggy's willing to pay them all with our tax money, then they gotta be the best. The only people more over paid for being even more average are politicians who bleep us every single day.

@Rogic - "Cause if Ziggy's willing to pay them all with our tax money, then they gotta be the best" .................................... Please tell me how the organization is tax-funded. I've read there's a stadium being built that'll be owned by a state commission, not the Vikes. Quit the lies, please.

Wow. This will go down as the dumbest move ever made in the nfl releasing Percy. We have trash for a qb pounder are u kidding me. No wr none. Now your gonna pay another big name wr to take a place that was full. What a joke. Oh yea now cb are weak to. This has to be my worst year as a mn vikings fan. I quit. We won't win 6 games this year period. U have sunk the ship.

allmad777...since you "quit", I guess that means you can stop posting. Most Vikings "fans" can understand that there is a plan in place. The Vikes got great compensation for a malcontent in Harvin. Winfield is too old and too expensive for what would have been a part-time player. Plus he may be back at a discounted price as that part-time player. Most Vikings fans are looking forward to what the team does in the draft (and two #1 picks). As I recall the Vikes went from 3-13 to 10-6 last year. Feel free to bail, but many of us plan to stick around and see this thing through. Skol Vikings and their TRUE fans!

To Winfield: Please sign for less money and retire a VIKING!Think about the future, would be a great coach for this orginazation.

Spielman will be judged on his moves based on how the 2013 team plays. Right now losing talent and not upgrading a single position does not bode well.

That was a ton of spin! Trading down in the draft and getting a few late round picks was a smart move but nothing ground breaking. Honestly they were lucky on how the order played out and the needs of the teams drafting 3-5 played out. Cutting Winfield could easily play out to be a huge mistake. Rolling with Ponder is hardly something to brag about... Trading Harvin is not something to brag about either. They underpaid Harvin for 2 years then dump him before he even enters his prime.

If Vikings management expect players to act with class/professionalism then maybe Spielman should have taken a leadership role with that and let a great player/leader go with a lot more consideration. Makes you wonder (other than cash) why players would want to play for the Vikings.
