While we were all kids once, this needs to push you over the edge of having a FIRM conversation with your kids. Not re-iterating what they already know but let them know how serious you are about it, and that you'll take the keys if they act irresponsible in a vehicle, and DO IT! My prayers go out to the families of these children. I cannot even imagine the pain and loss they're feeling right now.

And along with the talk about driving responsibly, Never get in a car when you don't know the driver, much less when it's packed so tight you can't even see the driver. 8 people in a Passport was way overloaded.

The kids probably didn't worry about such repercussions as a major accident because they lived in a small town where major accidents seldom happen. They had a false sense of security and were too immature to realize they could cause their own accident even though no other vehicle was involved. Not only that, they probably assumed Cayson, being older, had driving skills and was a safe driver.
