Well, whoop dee doo!! It's a a lucky guy who can overcome nature and use his will to reverse lifestyles. What a load of rubbish, and proof positive that the GOP/TP are on their way to extinction.

Poor Mr. Gruenhagen. He's evidently no idea that there's this other category called bi-sexual. Or that marrying a woman and procreating does not define one's sexual orientation. Too sad.

I would like to thank Rep. Gruenhagen for his comments. With their vote, the dying breed of gay fearing republicans to put giant scarlet letters on themselves, and make themselves easy to identify for any voter who remembers why the republicans are now the minority party in this state. The path back for modern republicans is a much needed return to fiscal conservatism. Social agendas are a luxury of easier economic times.

Maybe one day the GOP will realize that this type of ignorance is the reason that any good ideas they may have always get pushed into the background. Keep putting nails into the coffin of the Republican party.

I personally know dozens of people who have exited the "straight lifestyle" after having children and are now living happy, normal, well-adjusted lives as they raise their families. Why do they deserve any fewer rights than the person Rep. Gruenhagen introduced?

Gruenhagen's education consists of a few insurance and finance courses above his high school degree. The fact that he acts as if he understands complex human behavior with such a limited knowledge base would be laughable if he wasn't in a position to vote on same-sex marriage.

There is a whole bunch of far right social conservatives including Limmer, Joyce Peppin, Gruenhagen etc., who do nothing on the fiscal front and waste all the time only trying to legislate morals for Minnesotans. All of them need to go at the next election to the dustbin of history.

WOW! Until I read these comments, I didn't realize that Minnesotan's are required to think only one way, and that anyone who dares think otherwise will be threatened with ruin. What ever happened to acceptance of other views? To progressive thought? To tolerance of others? And, "YES", I am for gay marriage rights. But after reading these comments, I'm rethinking my position.

How sad that instead of governing Mr Gruenhagen chooses to use the legislature to spread bigoted remarks and insult people. I trust as the legislators vote on SF925 and HF 1054 they will act like statesman and stateswoman and show Mr Gruenhagen that they support freedom for ALL Minnesotans.

The man is a buffon who makes all Minnesotans look parochial and terribly backdated. He might as well be saying that it's aprt of God's PLan that people of different race don't marry, or really any number of other terribly antiquated views that have been shown to have harmed society. I'm a life long gay Minnesotan, and I deserve the rights of any other citizen. My 'pursuit of happiness' is currently blocked by law. I challenge any of these opinionated folks in office to come up with a valid argument NOT BASED ON RELIGION that shows why I should be a seconfd class citizen. I have been at the back of the bus for about 33 years now folks, partenered in a stable and loving relationship for 18 with the same guy. I deserve to be a family.
