I realize that North Korea makes outlandish threats on a regular basis, but am I the only one that sees this as significantly more frightening and specific than the norm? Everyone seems to be taking it in stride - note the low billing the story is getting on the Strib site and elsewhere, but I don't know - it seems like something a lot more serious than usual is going down.

They have to realize if they were to launch a nuke at the U.S. (or any other country for that matter) that they would be basically wiped off the map right? While I am worried about it, I still think it's a lot of sabre waving and not much else. But definately something to keep an eye on!

"A U.N. spokesman said later in the day, however, that North Korea cannot unilaterally dissolve the armistice." Sure they can. All they have to do is attack South Korea. It's not like they have to ask permission. I'm not sure which caused which, the insanity of their leadership or its absolute, literally god-like, authority.

Kim was also quoted as saying his military is fully ready to fight an "all-out war" and that he will order a "just, great advance for national unification" if the enemy makes even a slight provocation, according to the North's official Korean Central News Agency. Please, Please, Please, go ahead and "unify" the Koreas. We'll take our chances on which flag flies at the end. Bill G.

Well, here is one thing that Democrats and Republicans can agree on: North Korea is an out-of-control Communists dictatorship and is a serious threat to the United States.
