Ron Gardenhire has faith in the pitchers in camp, and he also has been impressed by outfielder Aaron Hicks.

Sid what the Twins need reads like a laundry list. Thirdbaseman, shortstop, secondbaseman, and five starters.

Even if the pitching staff miraculously becomes average this team is still in trouble. I don't know why Gardy thinks this offense is going to be OK. They were like third from the bottom in runs scored in the AL last year and they lost two starting OFs. Like Lindy-Frank just mentioned, there are holes all over the diamond. Having 4 good hitters won't cover it. Imagine if Willingham or Morneau go down for a while? There goes your pop. THis offense can be 'scary bad' with injuries to any of the key players. We were lucky to keep those guys injury free last year. It's just amazing they didn't do anything at all for this infield. Gardy keeps praising them for how they catch the ball. All major leaguers can catch the ball. What about some offense from that part of the diamond? Not as long as he's the skipper, it would appear!

In a related story, it was shone that the sun emits light when it is daytime out. Everyone knows the pitching needs to improve for the Twins to be at least competitive this year. With one starter who has to be a big part of the staffs uptick this year looking lost, Gibson, that looks highly unlikely.

Ol' Sid is right on top of things as usual.

'I don't know why Gardy thinks this offense is going to be OK. They were like third from the bottom in runs scored in the AL last year'..it is MUCH easier to score runs if you aren't three runs behind before the National Anthem ends...Bad starting pitching destroyed defense AND offense.

"The Twins need starting pitching to improve". Seriously, that is the scoop? You were a great columnist for many years but now it is just getting sad. It is hard for any of us to see when we have finally "jumped the shark" but someone really needs to be kind to Sid and throw him a big party celebrating his great career. I didn't want to put my dog down when he got so sick but it was best for him too.

Gee Sid, that's quite an epiphany. They have needed pitching since 2009 and are still hoping somebody they have will step up.

We have guys we're running out there. We have people going. What else can Gardy say about this group? Ryan and ownership should be ashamed.

Sid, you have complete mastery of the obvious.

If Sid's column or that of any other writer bothers you so much, why do you bother to read it. Yes, what he is saying is obvious, but then so are your comments.
