"students can now do their homework online" On the bus. LOL! Yeah.....pretty sure THAT'S gonna happen. All good students do their homework on the bus, don't they?

My god. Give the kids a chance to be unplugged and socialize. What's next? WiFi on the playground?

Decisions like this make it difficult to support requests for additional money. If I was a parent in this district I would much rather see money being put towards smaller class sizes. But, maybe this district doesn't have the same problems as mine. Nice....

Yes Oat777 - I was wondering the same thing. Two of my three of school district issued I-Pads - the other will be getting on next year. They can not access Facebook or games. Strictly school related things. Works great!!!! My 13yo reads more as she can more easily get access to books. My 9yo can do more research. Why not? Lets face it - technology is the future for these kids. I didn't have computers in school when I was there - they were just getting popular when I graduated college. So either adapt or die.

Oh - and as far as kids doing home work is concerned. Mine do it on the bus or when they get home. Why? Because as parents we TAUGHT them that. We disciplined them. Yes - discipline. Something most parents don't have a clue how to do. My kids know that they have to have their homework done first - period. Or they loose privileges. And we ACTUALLY follow through with the consequences. Its not easy for us - but live is not easy. Kids doing homework on the bus is a reflection of the parents. Not just the kids.

Per article: "Chaska and Chanhassen students can now do their homework online, upload photos from field trips and read Web articles from their bus seats." Uh-huh. Right.

How naive these school administrators are to think the kids will be doing homework.

It would be nice to see Metro Transit get going on this too. I could actually leave work earlier if my time riding home could be productive.
