Liriano says Twins offered him two-year contract

The lefthander turned it down, signing with the Pirates instead because he wanted to pitch in the NL.

Such a shame that Liriano had so much bad luck in Minnesota. I am sure there were reasons contributing to his wild inconsistency that as fans we will never know. Will be interesting to see if he is able to "turn the page" on his past and put together a solid season this year.

He has the talent, but is there anyone around to get him to unleash them???? Not sure about the "headcase" label.... I think he just needs a good pitching coach and some confidence......too bad he didn't develop with the Twins, they could use a quality left hander....

Don Cooper, the so-called "best pitching coach in baseball", couldn't get consistency out of him either. Wish him the best, but .......

Thank goodness he did not sign with the Twins-I got really tired of watching 110 pitch, 5 inning performances from Frankie. Like Calvin Griffith once said about one of his pitchers at the time- "Million dollar arm, 25 cent brain".
