The Minneapolis-based retailer is returning to its traditional strategy of partnering with one designer at a time.

The designers involved with the Neiman Marcus set also did not want their products having clearance tags on their items that didn't sell, and often when these are returned they are at a "salvage" point at which typical items from Target go to thrift sellers...but they did not want their items showing up at Goodwill so they went right to the trash. Dumpster-diving heaven, but quite ridiculous terms of the partnership with Target. Buyers are out of control, departments turnover too frequently.

Target needs to clean house of the people who come up with ideas such as the Neiman Marcus tie-in. The great majority of items were ridiculously overpriced crap. Get rid of the twenty-somethings who are trying to create a hip young market, and cater more to Target's core customer.

Neiman Marcus tie-in was garbage, seriously that was some cheap crap. Everyone involved should put their tail in between their legs and take a time out at a K-Mart. Every brand associated was momentarily devalued; Target, Neiman Marcus, the designers. Seriously who green lighted this? Why do I care this much ? I only care because I want to be the thumbs up or thumbs down guy for stupid stupid decisions like this.

You know who probably came up with this idea? The Target executive's wives! In other words, I don't think any young person would consider Neiman Marcus "hip". Neiman Marcus (aka Needless Mark-up) is a beautiful luxury store for people who pay dearly for over the top personal service. Target customers do realize this--they are sophisticated enough to know that they won't get even close to the Neiman Marcus experience in a Target atmosphere.

These shops weren't exactly over advertised. If I didn't listen to fm 107.1 I probably wouldn't have heard of them. The shops in the stores were small and easy to miss. If they want o make a splash, they should create a splash.

To the Nay Sayers, I use my "overpriced Neiman Marcus luggage " bought at Target and I walk through OHare and ppl stop me and ask me about my "cute" luggage. I constantly get compliments when I use it. Same with the yoga mat, tote bag and the clothes I bought. I have thoroughly enjoyed the clothing and wares. It's been a great purchase for me. I also borrow out my Missoni tote bag. Great bag bought at a great price!! Thanks Target!

I agree with someone else that this Neiman Marcus collaboration wasn't well advertised. So when I found out I went to look for the Neiman Marcus products in the men's section and like someone else said, found them hard to locate. At least in the downtown Target they were mixed in with all the regular merchandise. To top it off, when I finally found the merchandise I thought it was not particularly attractive stuff and I have to agree with bucksatan, it was cheap looking. Epic fail, at least for the men's section. Oh, and sunshine59, you loan out you Missoni tote bag, not borrow it out.

More evidence that Target doesn't know what they are doing anymore. It is becoming a store I don't recognize. I feel bad for the pharmacy people in Mankato. They added groceries to the store and the pharmacy is relegated to a tiny corner behind the frozen food-literally. I transfered my prescriptions to Walgreens because I can't handle going into Target much anymore.

Whether Shops or the NM collection worked out for Target, the important thing is that they tried and -- hopefully -- that they learned something for next time. Did anybody here personally suffer because Shops or NM flopped? So they tried something and it didn't work! If we all stopped the first time we failed at something, none of us would be walking. Let them be.
