CLEARWATER, FLA. – Aaron Hicks wasn’t looking for mementos from his monster exhibition game Thursday. Nor was he expecting any.

Even if he doesn't go north right out of the gate, this is an encouraging spring. I hope the young man continues to do well.

Have to be careful not to be too hopeful. He's hitting now, but what happens when pitchers learn how to pitch him. That's when the real ball players needs to be there. He looks good, but will he have the talent to adjust to the changes that occur over time. I think he will be good, but time will tell.

"Have to be careful not to be too hopeful"....That statement should be taken to a shrink for psycho-analysis..Then all the Twins fans who feel that way can be properly treated with a class-action coupon.

"Don’t try to panic"...Who TRIES to panic?..Defense will NEVER be the reason Hicks goes to AAA...Being overly excited after his offensive start is almost expected...That kid can play CF, and over-amping on one bad throw doesn't dis-prove that any more than the three-homer-ST-game proves that he has solved MLB pitching.

Well played Hicks! It takes Wonder Boy two months to hit 3 jacks. Pencil him in for opening day please..

Terry Steinbach's perspective is much better than Gardy's in Hicks' case....Steinbach says: "Then there's his play, which is more than just his hitting. The former catcher noted how quickly Hicks gets moving toward the ball in center field, and how quickly he tracks it down. "He's been making plays," Steinbach said. "And obviously today, his bat speaks for itself. The at-bats we've seen, he's handling himself so well at the plate."

"It takes Wonder Boy two months to hit 3 jacks"...The ST games started TEN DAYS AGO (NOT two months), and Hicks has only played seven games. He has 5 HR's in his last three games...So you couldn't be MORE WRONG!

I believe the 'wonder boy' comment was in reference to how long it would take the baby jeez to hit 3 HRs in the regular season. Just one spring training game but Hicks did manage to equals Span's yearly output which is a promising sign and will prove Span's trade is no great loss.
