Gibson's 'yanked' fastball a problem

CLEARWATER, FLA. – Twins righthander Kyle Gibson was charged with six earned runs in 2⅓ innings of Thursday’s 10-6 victory over the Phillies in the other half of the Twins’ split-squad day. Gibson struggled with his command and was charged with three wild pitches as catcher Chris Herrmann had a rough time handling some of his pitches.

Call Guinness, I think we have a world record for multiple excuses being used here.

It would be good to remember Gibson was the big "untouchable" too in any prospective trade talks to improve the team....too bad 'untouchable' doesn't apply to opposing hitters.

"It would be good to remember Gibson was the big "untouchable" too in any prospective trade talks to improve the team" Point taken. Lets make sure in the future that we trade or release every pitcher and prospect as soon as they have a bad outing.

What the heck is a "yanked" fastball. Does it mean the hitters yanked it out of the park when they saw it?

Let's go Gibson, get it together before the regular season starts!

I watched the game on the Phillies telecast on the MLB site. Gibson didn't have a great outing but: 1) The 5 run second was greatly aided by a fluke hop. Michael Young led off with an infield hit, and the next batter hit a grounder straight at the SS, for a perfect double play ball. It hit a footprint or something in the infield about 10 feet in front of Florimon, and almost took his head off. That should have been two out, no one on, not 2 on and no outs. Several more soft hits followed, and it was officially a mess. 2) Herrman was terrible behind the plate. He kept trying to backhand those sinkers in the dirt, and missing; has he heard of blocking the ball with his body? He really didn't make a very good effort, and the Phillies broadcasters sort of called him out for it. 3) Gibson also gave up a wind-blown medium flyball for triple that led to the first run, it certainly lloked like it should have been caught, as well. I don't think Gibson gave up a well-hit ball all day. It wasn't exactly a team of Gold-Glovers out there for the Twin's yesterday.

It's beyond belief that a alleged major league team would even think about fielding this pitching staff. The Twins are a disaster and Pohlad doesn't care. Twins will not be able to keep their ERA under 6.00. It's gonna be a slaughter. New stadium = The great Minnesota con job!
