He said this porn article is a not an issue. You better tell that to woman! Al
we should disregard any degrading comments or jokes he makes about women.
Is this the same party that barbequed Barack Obama for calling a reporter "sweetie"?
Anyone could have beaten Coleman.
Look at who beat an incumbent Republican Senator last time around- a nobody Democratic Shill. Klobuchar even oversaw an increase violent crimes when she was Hennepin county Attorney, but got elected anyway.
Yeah, anybody could have beaten Coleman.
Except Al, that is.
So because someone told a joke, someone whose JOB it was to brainstorm comedic material, that can now be taken completely out of context and be used against them? Bye bye 1st Amendment, it was nice knowing you. I guess if I pass on an email joke, the words of the joke can be pulled out and used against me in a job interview too, huh?
I'm a Twin Cities democrat and I hope some of the delegates to the convention read this. I don't think Franken is a good choice and I much prefer Nelson-Pallmeyer. It's unclear to my why Franken wants to be a Senator, he has no record of public service and has done nothing to communicate his motivation to the public. The only things I hear about him are all these media stories about his slip-ups. I think he was an awesome writer for SNL, but that doesn't mean he'll be a good senator. However, it does mean that the Republicans will be able dig up dirt he suggested writing about for SNL, probably daily, between now and the election. With the nationwide anti-Republican, almost ANYBODY could defeat Coleman. However, I don't think Franken will because Minnesotans aren't going to want to be represented by somebody who has made so many controversial statements, even if it was part of his job as a satirist. I think they'll vote for Pallmeyer over Coleman, though, he's smart and has a passion for public service.
It looks to me like the DFL fell in love with a star power name without doing any research, and are now starting to regret it.
This is what we are fighting about? Coleman is a political opportunist and if you bother to listen to Al's positions on the actual issues (like a war we seem to be forgetting!), this would all seem so ridiculous. Al is someone who represents the majority opinion of Minnesotans, and the only way Republicans can hurt him is to bring up the things he wrote trying to solicit laghs as a PRIVATE CITIZEN and SATIRIST years ago. And you wonder why Minnesota voters are not taken seriously!
Al Franken is simply not U.S. Senator material. Mr. Franken, thats no joke. Do yourself and your party a favor---step aside and let somebody with real credentials and proven credibility run for the senate. Your response to your previous behavior is a disgrace and not worthy of the office for which you seek.
But, everything he has said or written since high school should not be used against him because he is a satirist and you can not tell anything about a person who is a satirist from the material they write.
However, we should believe everything he says now that he is running for the Senate because now he is a politician and what they say they really believe. Got it.
