Boy oh boy, Joel Maturi slipped a sneaky one on the Gopher AD dept. Pam, who has never built the program like she should have, got a big fat raise for being average, not landing any 4-5 star players, finishing big ten play under .500 and never getting back to the NCAA tourney. hmm. UM sports is satisfied with oh well average. What ever happened to excellence and trying to win championships? Where did that go? OK Mr Norwoods, make something happen.

Since when did it change that the NCAA would even consider with a losing conference record for a NCAA al-large bid? Thought the only way Gophs in NCAA was to win Big10 tourney. And considering Borton's performance on this stage, that ain't gonna happen. Maybe win against a surprisingly pathetic OSU team today, but make a run in tourney, doubtful. Let's check Borton's record on this one... something like 2-6 in last 5 years, never getting even past quarterfinals. Big Ten tourney performance, more evidence she was not worthy to still be here much less get that extension.

Fire Borton. Another buy-out; thanks, Maturi.

Unless the team goes crazy in the conference tournament, I can't support their being invited to the NCAA tournament. Glad they finished the conference season stronger than they played for most of it, though, and hopeful about next year's team despite the coach.

It's kind of sad that the article featured Katie Loberg in it, considering that she was relegated to spot releif duty off the bench in her final year. I do recognize that Riche brought a more powerful game to the floor than Loberg but what this team has been lacking this year is some experience on the floor. A starting line-up that included Riche and Loberg on the front line would have injected some senior leadership to the mix and might have calmed some of the more chaotic stretches that this team went through over the course of the season.

raymondb62, Loberg was relegated to relief duty because she was outperformed by Richie. She was a standout player at Princeton because well, she played at Princeton. The schedule was all pushovers and 1A high schools.

teeuur--I agree that Loberg was outplayed by Riche but you can't tell me that she couldn't have provided a better spark at power forward than Kellogg. Kellogg is very athletic but she loses her nerve when she goes inside and usually ends up short arming her shots. Kellogg does have a nice midrange game that would have served us well at small forward. I just think Loberg's size and experience would have served us well on the frontline.
