What a shame the Cadets aren't playing in the big school tournament. I know they are moving up next year but you could see in the players' faces tonight...they looked almost embarrassed to, once again, beat up on the second tier tourney qualifiers. One has to think that the kids are thinking, "if you want to be the best, you've got to play the best". Next year will be interesting but, in the meantime, hoist another banner St. Thomas Academy...you'ver earned it?

STA and Breck should be in the AA flight. This absurdity has gone on too long.

Having these twin city private schools playing in class A makes no sense whatsoever. I don't fault the Cadet or Breck players as it is out of their hands, but this class A bracket is just too hard to even watch anymore. It is bad enough that Class AA is being dominated by private schools, but class A? Come on High School League! The integrity of the whole tournament is at stake.

@odinman, Class AA is dominated by private schools? I see one private school and seven public in this years Class AA tournament. Agreed on the rest, though. St. Thomas has no business playing in single A.

Takes one back to late 40's and blow-out games with no competitive balance. League needs to work on this. Also the awful history of section from southern Minnesota in large school tourney; losing teams in state tourney? Go back to old region 3 when losers in 4 sections had playoff.

Watching the STA game last night was absolutely despicable. I have way more respect for the St. Cloud Apollo fans, players and coaches than I do for the same from STA. I hope the boys from East Grand Forks come out playing physical and blast the preppy STA sandbaggers through the boards. Time for some "old-time hockey"! Nobody can skate with the STA hand-picked all-star team,so at least knock them around and beat them up a little. The entire state would love to see it.

Great, looks like another cardboard statue for the STA "trophy case" this year. Good luck EGF!! Hermantown too! (If it weren't for STA, Breck would be the bad guys)

You can't blame the coches and kids for not playing hard as this is the hand they were dealt. They have a lot of pressure on them as people are making them out as the bullies on the block and want to see them beat up which I think is not fair. Good grief they are only high school kids trying to be successful playing high school hockey. A lot of people are asking whether they will be as successful next year in 2AA? My opinion is, they have a top notch program and will be just as successful. The only thing that will change is they will be playing different teams in the playoffs and may not get to the finals as often. Let them have their say this year and see what next year brings.
