Rand: ESPN will soon have challenger in Fox Sports 1

I am not that old (or so I like to pretend), but I am old enough to remember straining to stay awake each week during “Monday Night Football” long enough to see the halftime highlights.

ESPN needs competition badly. Everyone at that station reads from the same script. Not sure if its management or just the "culture" there. Here are a few off the top of my head. 1. Belittle hockey and the NHL 2. Bash Tim Tebow at every opportunity 3. Don't ever be critical of a "diverse" quarterback 4. Embrace every P.C topic/idea

I can't wait for this option to be rolling. I can't tell you the last time I watched Sportscenter. If its not the NBA, Nascar or NFL it gets little airtime(yes i know they talk MLB,NCAA) but the others get way too much focus when there are other viable talking points. They focus so much on the sports sagas, do they really need a Pedro Gomez to follow around Barry Bonds' head like it is its own planet? Its already on earth, cannot hit the earth. Nobody cares that much! Brett Farve saga Episode I, Episode II, Episode III....etc etc. come on! I just hope they bring a fresh voice and show a diverse lineup for the "news" show. Thanks and Good Luck knocking of the Giant!

I don't care to see any commercials for the Fox lineup so I will be taking a pass on this network. Really, really don't care what is going on with American Idol.
