Sounds like a disaster is looming for the Church. The developed worlds Catholics are leaving the church, or at least leaving the doctrine in huge numbers. Failure to come to terms with hevreality of 2013, and to come to terms with the moral failures and crimes will destroy the head.
Hearing that he is disliked and the reasons for it give me cause to believe he is the right guy for the job. The head of any church, Catholic or otherwise, who caves to politically correct pressures, risks irrelevancy. It is better to become smaller and lose a bunch of disloyal followers that become irrelevant. A schism once in awhile is a good thing.
I doubt Ouellet will really get it. He's a Benedict-kind of guy, but his brother is a convicted child molester who could be an embarrassment. I think the cards will distance themselves from any further "abuse"....
If he is hated by the world, he is perfect for the role of Christ's Vicar. Christ was hated as well, so he has my support.
