I was there that night. It was WILD. Philly wouldn't leave the ice quietly. They had fights flaring up all over. What a game!

That pic is Bob Daily but he played defense. I remember standing on my seat and yelling GO HOME FLYERS...

Remember that game well, except I wasnt able to be there, it was bowling night! But at the bowling lanes they had the live radio feed going over the loudspeakers and at the conclusion of the game the place went nuts. Still can't stand the Cryers....

Lets hope the Wild can play a solid game tonight and make some history. All playoff runs will go through Chicago, this is a perfect time to say we are here and will play you tough, hard-nosed hockey. GO WILD

ARRey sez: I'm waiting for the 15,959 yet to be accounted for to chime in (yes, I also was there that night). Nothing quite like a full house at the Met in late '70s -- early '80s. The Wild and their mostly full arena have yet to match the excitement both on the ice and in the stands that the North Stars routinely delivered at 7901 Cedar.

I love reading North Stars stories. They were my team growing up.. During the playoffs, one of our guys, center Kevin Maxwell, shot the puck at their goaltender during warmups. that really stirred things up! Beating boston for the first time at the garden, going to the Finals against the Isles. Neal Broten with the North Stars, he joined the team after beating the Russians with team USA, and getting the Gold.. what a run..

thing that really sticks in my craw is we lost a great team name in the North Stars...NHL probably made sure of that...should have never let Dallas keep the name...Brown fans made sure Baltimore didn't...we should have too...Wild is so lame..

ARRey sez: After 1980 Gold Medal, Broten returned to U, went to Frozen Four, and won Hobie Number One. Then he joined the North Stars.

The NStars never had consistent good luck or good teams but they were always pretty colorful teams. The various casts of characters that skated their way through the Met made for some great stories. I for one miss that zaniness. The Wild simply has been too bland so far but that seems to be slowly changing as well. Think Clutter or Konopka. Some crazy personalities are not an entirely bad thing.
