Homegrown heats up

A shaky economy, concerns about food safety and an urge to reconnect with the land have spurred a new generation of gardeners to grow their own vegetables.

Here's hoping this is a real, long-term thing and not just another "trend" for a year or two. I grow veggies for all the reasons listed in the article, plus it's an excuse to be outside in sun and fresh air....mood-enhancing without drugs! And yeah, it's fun to be able to grow and eat some of the "exotics" you otherwise couldn't afford and some of the heirlooms you've read about in cooking and gardening mags. Now if I could just figure out how to keep the critters from eating it before I can!
