Asked Sunday if he had given up on adding Thome to his bench, Gardenhire said, "Not yet. Still fighting that one."

Colo must not have herd bout Wally Pip. If you are on the bubble you will do best by sticking around and performing. Absene does not make....

If Thome can still hit HRs someone please tell me who on the Twins roster is better coming off the bench or DHing?

If you can get Jim Thome cheap why not, even for a half of a season? This clubhouse needs veteran leadership. If you can't learn how to be a major league ballplayer by watching Jim Thome, then perhaps you shouldn't be in the major leagues.

Thome would be a great addition, especially for some pop off of the bench, which I see now as nothing.....why not, this team is going nowhere anyway in 2013?????

Adding Thome is just a bad idea. Clement should be added instead. Clement can play some first base, or even catch in a pinch. That would mean Butera could be sent to Rochester. I'd rather have Clement's bat off the bench over Butera's any day. Thgome was a good ballplayer for the Twins when he played here. But this isn't his time. After 2 consecutive 96+ loss seasons, the Twins need to rebuild.

Too bad Harmon passed away. He'd be as serviceable as Thome.

He's not in a wheel chair... anything past the shift will still be a single, maybe even a double if in the OF gap... And those few HRs would be nice in a big spot late in a game. Plus, guys love him, great mentor and clubhouse guy... a true professional, bring him in!

Of course Gardy is fighting for Thome....Gardy isn't concerned with the Twins' future, since he will not be part of it.

"a true professional, bring him in!"....Hookers are an even older profession.
