Knee injuries forced Jeff Clement, once a can't-miss prospect, from catcher to first base. Now, he seeks a job with the Twins.

You can only live forward and i wish Mr. Clements the best of success for the rest of his career. I certainly will be pulling for him to catch a fire and become an overnight sensation, regardless of what actually happens.

Hope he sticks. Sounds like the kind of guy the Twins needs - plays the hand that is dealt and doesn't whine.

I hate to admit this, but I never heard of him... hopefully he can fill in and contribute some innings for the Twins in 2013..

Probably a wise decision to add him to the final roster. A big LH bat off the bench...a guy who could fill in at first base, or catcher. Makes a lot more sense to me than Gardy's desire to add Jim Thome. Don't get me wrong. I liked Thome when he was here. But, Thome needs ABs to be efffective, and Doumit's being paid for that. Thome's not good as a pinch-hitter alone, nor can he catch, or even play a reasonable first base anymore. Adding Clement would also allow the Twins to send Drew Butera to Rochester. I haven't seen much of Clement yet, but I'd take his bat over Butera's any day. After consecutive 96+loss seasons, Gardenhire needs to be held accountable for his personnel decisions.

"Clement, whose short stints with the Mariners and Pirates produced only a .218 average and 14 homers in 152 total games." Money is no object now that we built a new stadium.

"now that we built a new stadium"....If that is true, the stadium sounds unsafe.

Pencil him in at 1B every Thursday and Sunday... Gardy loves that!

It's nice to hear about an underdog doing well, but to say TK was impressed and then quote him with the following, well, only the media would spin this as "impressed" lol: "He has a hard time, because he's a pretty thick guy. He's a catcher, and he's got to change his throwing angles and his way of moving," Kelly said. "But he tries. He's very enthusiastic, and when you get that effort, you'll improve."

Whopper of a job? I'd prefer malted milk balls. Just so long as he gets after it.

sane09 "now that we built a new stadium"....If that is true, the stadium sounds unsafe I do not understand your comment. Please explain. I was referring to the Twins promise that they would spend more money to place a solid team on the new Target field. This player does not appear to fit within the Twins promise to the taxpayers and ticket purchasers. I expect he would earn the minimum.
