Great article. I think the Twins are taking a glass half full, rather than a hlf empty approach to Gibson's effectiveness and readiness. He's had nasty stuff in the past...and its well documented. Kubel had real trouble figuring out Gibson a couple years ago in a BP session. Kubel's one of my favorite Twins of all-time. If Jason couldn't figure him out, well Kyle Gibson's alright with me. Gibson will have more time to impress beyond today. And it wasn't a bad day for him. Here's hoping he'll get better. Goi Twins!!!

My timing was bad. I would like to have seen him pitch at Hammond. The other young kids looked fairly impressive and will be fun to watch in the future.

Twins need all the arms they can get....Good luck to this kid, hopefully he can come out and fit in and give this team some badly needed innings.......

I'm glad Kyle Gibson was willing to give Juan Carlos Linares credit for a "real" home run. It shows that the young man has integrity. Sometimes the other guy really does make a good play, so you tip your hat and get him the next time.

"Return to competence."? Is it ok if we aim higher? How about aiming for excellence? I mean, the goal is to be excellent, right, Mr. Reusse? I'm not sure I understand the Strib's writers. That said, not pushing Gibson makes perfect sense. The Twins will be awful this year no matter how many innings Gibson pitches, so they may as well be cautious with him in hopes that he'll be really good (not merely competent) in 2014 and beyond when he could make a difference.

Gibson has passed the Twins ritual of Tommy Johnhood. Now the time is to hold our collective breaths and hope he fulfills his destiny.

Unfortunately, if by some miracle the TWINS are still in the hunt in September, Gibson will be shut down no matter how well he is pitching. But it don't matter, we will probably be out of it by June 1st. How many games will we lose if our bullpen is worse than expected? We all know our starting pitching will be mediocre at best.
