Anderson: Winter trip to the BWCA eventually reveals thick northern pike

The northerns -- and big ones -- eventually cooperated on a trip to the frozen expanse of Basswood Lake by dog sled.

What's ancient about a tip-up anyway?? State of the art for me. Nice story, very nice trip, even nicer photos. Lovely all around, I can hear the doggies barking, feel the blinding Winter sun cause pain inside my eyes, imagine the big Northern in my cold wet hands. Caught my first Winter fish a month ago in Wisconsin, but wasn't prepared to club him so I released him too. Not nearly as big as yours though. The dog was displeased at this turn of events.

Looks like a fun trip. Dog sledding has been on the bucket list for a few years now. That and a night winter camping.
