Mr Walsh, Please take the weekend off and relax. You had to work hard to find a negative spin in this, and to make your point you left out facts concerning how these few crimes affected anyone or anything, or how they compared with crimes committed by others.

Why is it "conceal" and carry? I want to know by sight who is carrying so that I can make my own decision as to whether I want to remain in the area. I don't know these people and even if they have gone through a background check in the past, their circumstances may have changed. Who knows!!!

"When individuals apply for a permit with their local sheriff’s office, they must provide proof of approved firearms training." - Which costs money, making this process a poll tax for civil right exercise and therefore unconstitutional. Citizens have a carry permit by right of the 2nd amendment. I'd suggest some public education first to train legislators’ gone rebel, second to train people to carry responsibly without the illegal burden of fee for the right. My Friday rant against injustice ends there.

And all these permit holders VOTE. Any politician who so much as THINKS of trying to pass any useless gun bans or restrictions will face a backlash at the polls next election. Keep that in mind.

I heard President Obama talking on the MSNBC Rachel Maddow TV show about how horrible the sequestor is going to be so I got a permit and loaded up on ammo. How about you?

It is a Permit To Carry A Pistol. We do not need to conceal if we don't choose. The purpose of this was to allow for the fact that total concealment is not possible, and at some point every person who carries will have their firearm detected. In a concealed carry state this would be a violation of the permit, but Minnesota realized it should not be a crime for a firearm to be detected.

Also keep in mind that there are a lot of us who are getting renwals. This year is the 10 year anniv since the law went into effect. Permits expire every 5 years. The article implies all of these permits are new. I suspect that is not the case.

"quinneroo - "Great, more scared armed people. Just what the world needed." ...................Exactly, gjacob, Scared little boys and their toys." - A little sexist there. My mom has the conceal and carry in my parents house. Dad took the class too, but they opted to only get one permit and mom will be the one to have it.
