Hendriks has looked good everywhere except where it counts. He needs to take the success he had in AAA and spring training, (last year, and to this point this year) and have success at the MLB level when the season arrives. He has pitched some good games at the MLB level, but has also struggled. I think the talent is there, he needs to decide overcome the mental side of pitching.

Hendriks had a sub 3 ERA at every level. I don't think anyone expected him to continue that at the major league level except maybe Hendriks himself. I am not surprised that this dynamic caused him to lose a little focus and/or confidence when he gave up more runs than normal for him. Mentally tough doesn't mean throwing shutouts. In his case it means keeping faith in what you are doing even in the face of some failures. Try to throw shutouts but if he ends up with a full season of a 4 ERA that would still make him a valuable major leaguer.
