Any message board discussing JCPenney--even the JC Penny website reviews--would offer JCP plenty of info on how to fix the store ASAP. They could have cut out the sales, they could have cut the standard merchandise lines, but they should never have eliminated both of those at once. JCP is no syle icon, and they should live with that. There are far too many failing stores catering to 24 year olds already. They were a great source of reliable, basic clothes--all those core lines are now gone and the replacements are just...well, look at the dress held up in the photo with this article...just ugly. Not right for anybody, of any age. Quickly, quickly bring back the St. Johns Bay and other lines that customers relied on for years. Get the basic stuff back in the store and back in the online catalog. It is the only hope of saving this sinking ship.

This comes as no surprise. I only use the Eden Prairie store for their elevator but every time I'm there a new section of the store is getting remodeled. The only constant is the lack of customers. Would love to see that store go away.

What is more interesting is to see how it obviously was more then just Johnson at Apple that made the Apple stores successful. It wasn't just a single person (Johnson) that made it successful.
