Simple pilgrim? Hardly. This is a religion that dresses up their pope wearing Gucci shoes. Gold is also the standard there. Yes keep donating money to the catholic church so they can spread the message of being anti gay. Love thy neighbor so long as he is straight.

"Simple pilgrim? Hardly. This is a religion that dresses up their pope wearing Gucci shoes. Gold is also the standard there. Yes keep donating money to the catholic church so they can spread the message of being anti gay. Love thy neighbor so long as he is straight." First of all, the shoes you are referring to are Prada, not Gucci. Second, gold is not the "standard" there. Yes, gold is used in the altars and vessels for its beauty, but it is hardly the standard. Third, anti-gay? Who was it that was the first to take care of people stricken with AIDS (who were nearly all gay)in this country when nobody knew what AIDS really was and were too afraid to take them in? The Catholic church- right here in Minnesota.

"where diversity always works toward a higher and harmonious agreement," he said. Beautifully put, but he forgot to amend that with, "unless you are a woman or a gay guy".

Good to see the haters are posting. This man does more good in a second than the 3 writers who trashed him. What a shame.

Keep up the hate!

Great point, bannedmuggs. There are people who hate religion in general, and the Catholic Church in particular, with such incredible vitriol that one simply cannot take their hate seriously. Benedict could show up at Sharing and Caring Hands to distribute food and minister to the poor and the haters that frequent the Star Tribune message boards would spew their hate at him for that too.
