I wouldn't be too hard on Maverick. He does have an issue with unforced turnovers but there've been a few points this year where he's kept us in the game with a couple threes or some free throws.

Would of enjoyed this one more without the smarmy shots at Tubby. How about just a nice column on two reserves coming through to help the team win their biggest game of the year. Nice job Mav (no one else could shoot a jumper until late in the game) and great job EE!! You gotta love the joy on EE's face running down the court after scoring!

Tubby's substitutions have been puzzling his entire time here at Minnesota. They've mostly been really bad. The mass substitutions have been a train wreck, yet he would continue to do them. I guess he got lucky this time. We'll see where the darts land the rest of the season.

Heres why I think that lineup worked well - Maverick gives them another shooter on the outside which spreads the floor more for the big guys ( when Colemans in his man doesnt have to guard the jump shot and stays inside to stop him from driving which clogs up the middle )

Don't be too hard on Patrick. Tubby isn't, as are most coaches, without his moments that makes a writer salivate. The writer threw a few darts of his own that were well thrown. Everything aside, the Gophers played well and made us old 'Maroon' wearers PROUD!

Look back at the games where we had an early lead and then Tubby mass substitutes and good bye lead.

Way to go bench, I've been screaming for you guys exspecially you Eliason to shoot the rock! Your Big Ten D1 players you can't act like the ball is a hot potatoe. Shoot the ball and if you miss we'll clean up the glass. GO GOPHS!

I'm not sold on Maverick handling the ball consistently well. Usually he is a terrible ball handler and coughs it up with very little pressure on him. But he probably is one of their better shooters when he gets an open look.

Tubby still has to go away. Year after year his teams get worse not better! One big win does not make up for all the terrible losses. Win the next three games and first game in big ten tournament, then maybe keep him.

We've all been hard on Ahanmisi, but when you come right down to it, he really doesn't get much playing time. A player has to play and not be pulled as soon as he screws up...let him get the rust out and maybe things will level off. That's how I feel about Maverick and EE...maybe the same for Ocieneks! Never gets enough playing time to find out. Now, anyone think this Penn State is going to be a pushover? After upsetting Michigan?
