Dear school administrators everywhere: This is harmless, and it will GO AWAY if you just ignore it. Good grief. As if schools have nothing better to worry about.

Googling "Harlem Shake" will, indeed, show some harmless versions of the dance. On the other hand, some versions that can be found are lewd and totally inappropriate for school settings. This is the problem.

Another overreaction to kids being kids. When did we get so afraid of everything?

Once again the author of the article forgot to delineate the Mound Westonka situation in which they had PERMISSION. Should the school have given guidance, yes. Should the school had better supervision, yes. Should the school have done a little due diligence as to what this whole Harlem Shake thing entailed? DUH! A 3-minute YouTube search would have at least clued them in to what was coming - not that what their version was that bad, but clearly fuddy duddies weren't happy.

A lot of clueless people here that think "harmless" includes property damage. It could be harmless, but it's not always harmless. And I knew that when I was a kid. Maybe you're not parents yet. You'll learn.

As a metro area Chem/Dep counselor, trust me.....the Harlem Shake is the least of Westonka's problems. I feel for those who felt the need to react swiftly & with authority and now are the recipients of the backlash and yet also feel terribly for the student athletes. 'Just shows everyone needs to slow down & see things for what they are. My bet is the AD had never heard of nor seen the Harlem Shake until Friday noon. It's wise to keep your head in the game when you're a referee....just sayin'...

Mound Westonka deal certainly didn't run it by the principal otherwise he wouldn't of freaked out. And the fact that other schools are suspending kids it shows that the Mound Westonka isn't an isolated deal. Hell these kids in other schools could have got permission, we don't know cause their parents aren't freaking out. Ironically the normal "cake eater" schools aren't the ones up in arms.
