Excellent! Then I guess they won't come looking for MN taxpayers to hand them $500,000,000 to reface their infrastrcture right?

$400,000,000 in pure profit? No reason to come after MN taxpayers for their planned upgrades...with that level of profit they could pay it all off with one year's profits.

Operating expenses of 8.4 BILLION?!?!?! They charge like 35 dollars for an asprin. How can they not be making a KILLING?? These are cooked books and anyone who's ever gotten a bill for the Mayo Clinic knows it. There's no way that place is barely making a profit with the money they charge and the lack of insurance companies that want to cover anything.

So Mayo,what's the truth, now everything is "rosy"but a couple of months ago inhouse hospital staff mtgs to all employees you painted a very different picture,no hiring,depts sending home employees and you have to use your PTO,no choice,all the charts we were shown showed a major decline in revenue,it was stressed that employees were low priority on scheduling of appointments with downtown Dr.out of towners with cash and good health insurance come first,and I don't know where they get all the mega numbers of new patients,seems like if the state of Minnesota is even considering Mayo's deal they may want to look at the books and projections,Mayo has had 100 years to transform Rochester,they're the ones that have hindered progress,when you give one enity to much control that is what happens,now all of asudden they realize they're in trouble,John Hopkins,Cleveland Clinic, Mass General,University Washington,Seattle(just to name a few are way ahead and outdoing Mayo,they may have been at the top in the 80's and 90's but this idea that they reign is completely insane,just come and walk thru the halls of the hospitals and rooms and see how much equipment is outdated

Mayo is a MN asset. 54 of the 89 counties have someone living there that works at a Mayo facility! It is the largest private employer in the state. DMC is not a government hand out like the Vikings, MN Orhestra, theaters, etc. It only is allowed if the jobs and economic benefit is created...not before. It would have been similar to requiring the Vikings actually win a Super Bowl before they received tax payer funds. If any other business wants to put in $10 for every $1 of state support after jobs are created, we should be opening them with welcome arms. Oh, maybe if it was on the iron range and IRRRB money was available, then it would be ok to the critics, or if it was straight old state handout to ethonal plants that are making millions already, that would be ok. If someone takes the time to understand what DMC is all about, it is really not a good decision to be against it - also it is over 20 years folks and the City of Rochester is contributing millions as well to the cause.

If the medical care is not top notch, it does not matter how much money is used for the Rochester infra-structure or any of the expansions planned by Mayo. There are some very dedicated doctors at Mayo, but for some, the patient does not come first.
