Republicans make such noise about "reducing spending," but don't mind paying $150 a day to house and feed immigrants verified as noncriminal and low-risk offenders.

This whole thing should not come as any real surprise to anyone. In spite of having existing immigration laws in place, Obama & Napolitono have pretty much done whatever they please in actually enforcing them or not.

Political theater at it's best. ANY pretense that it is not a political stunt is made obvious by the fact that they released them 3 days BEFORE any budget cuts. Just some Stooges carrying water for the jokesters rui...running the country right now. Bill G.

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better”. Senator Barack Obama, in the 2006 debt ceiling debate .

That's because their lobbied by representatives of privately owned prisons. There's a lot of minor crimes that don't need prison time. But it generates money for the prisons in the form of government contracts and hand outs. It's one of the biggest "welfare" scams in the country.

Illegal is illegal. They need to be deported which is much cheaper than housing them in a detention center or monitoring them. They can then attempt to enter the country legally and follow our current registration process. This is a joke to the people that paid the money and went through all the red tape to be here legally.

Spirit Air offers flights to Mexico and all over South America in the $90-$200 range. About the same price that it costs ICE to hold a detainee for just one day.

Very interesting. Releasing illegal immigrants a couple of days before the cuts due to lack of money? A little public relations ploy maybe? Naw, I don't think the Obama administration would do something that dishonest or misleading do you. It's not like him.

"Immigrants’ advocates applauded the releases but pressed the Obama administration to do more, including leaving alone immigrants accused of low-level crimes and administrative immigration violations." 1) AMERICAN CITIZENS accused of low-level crimes aren't "left alone" but they believe that they ought to be?!? Makes sense. They should be allowed to come here illegally and commit any "low-level" crime they want to, right? 2) If they also should be immune from all "administrative immigration violations" there really wouldn't be a need for them at all, would there be?

Obama has stated to the Governors Conference in the past few days that he does not want any authority to prioritize the 2% reduction. In short, he thinks it is more important to get an additional tax increase, two months after the last one, than it is to protect public safety. National security? The pentagon spends $500 million a year on bands and choirs. Space research? NASA runs a cable tv channel. Obvious why he doesn't want to prioritize. How did every working American manage the 2% cut they had to deal with when Social Security taxes went up. C'mon Mr. Prez, park Air Force One for a few days at least.
