Lets not forget, anyone but cheesefaces can win the BigTen title. I will take, MSU, Wolverines and even Indy. We just can't have the colleges that ruin sports, WI & NW represent the BigTen in any national way. It's just embarrassing. Go Sparty, Wolves, Indy and Gophers! Please.

Great defense wins championships. Plenty of examples from last night, first and the best by Mbakwe on Zeller in the paint. Mbakwes elbow introduces itself to Zellers face, Zeller just lays on the court begging for a call, five Gophers run the other way (the barn was rocking on that one). Second Rodney Williams jumps 10ft in the air to deflect/ block a late 3 by Indy. It was crazy how high he can get off the floor. Amazing. Third, Elliot playing Zeller tough on defense and out rebounding him. Let's keep this intensity going and win the next three, spank PSU, Neb, Purd. Win them all.

Keep this in mind for the next few games - Colton Iverson dominated in two games - and then inexplicably he sat the next several and was withered by substitution patterns that took a toll on his confidence, while R3 took over the paint even though MN struggled during that time.(OK then - "took over" as in assigned, not as in "owned")... How will Smith play this out? Will Smith revert to form of the past several years and have Walker get long minutes against Penn State and let Eliason sit ... or will he use the game to hone Eliason and Mbakwe together, or have Eliason and the guards work it out and get Eliason out there shooting to get the confidence to score 14-16 so teams can't focus all their efforts on Mbakwe, and get Walker minutes in there with each of them in support -- prepping for a run deep into the NCAA?... They can go deep if they have the opportunity to hone their teamwork....

Poorly played on both ends, shooting from 3 pt range was ugly but they kept shooting and the rebounding was awesome and kept them in the game. On a side not look at the timeout before they almost whistled Andre Hollins with a flagrant for throwing his elbows. Tom Crean is moving elbows telling his players to take a flop to get a foul. Thankfully the refs saw the whiff to his jaw even though he acted like Mike Tyson hit him with an upper cut.

Nice to see the Gophers step up when the chips were down to play for Tubby... and themselves. I hope they find a way to continue the momentum.

@dewarf - Kinda out of left field? The point is you need to hold people accountable for their overall performance, not one nice win every once and a while. The old saying goes, even a blind squirrel gets a nut once and awhile. Not really understanding where that comparison comes from and why this is being made a political discussion.

As a Gophers fan since 1955 it was the most thrilling win I've witnessed. Wow. Now they have to play with that heart and intensity the rest of the way because I don't think there's a big margin for error here. Losing 2 of 3 or worse and having Illinois and Iowa win out could keep the Gophers out. I don't think they're a sure bet like some do. Plus, if you can't muster every bit of energy and emotion in the final stretch then you probably don't belong in the tournament anyway. Don't know who had the Gophers working the ball around and being patient but keep it up. Go Gophers.
