Fresh off a strong finish last season, the Twins' oldest player is working as hard as ever this spring.

I know most guys on this board will disagree with this, but assuming Florimon is your SS (Ugh!), I'd like to see Carroll playing 2B and batting second in the batting order. After the all-star break last year, after he quit putting so much pressure on himself, he bit .317 with a .378 OBP in 200 ABs. I think he could do a nice job there, despite his age.

I'm not qualified to comment on his skills but last year I had my two sons on the rail near the dugout and he came over to talk to them and sign autographs. My kids (8-10) will probably never forget it.

Like Morneau, like Willingham, like other class acts, they play the game right. They play with their heart and for the love of the game. They are a true example to the younger players that you go out there to win every time. Carroll is one of those players and as long as he remains uninjured and as long as he conditions himself each year you will be surpised how long he will continue to excel as a top utility player. The Twins are lucky to have him and I hope these young players like Dozier listen and learn.

Hunt4food hit the nail on the head. He knows nothing about his skills? He is a great human being. Well he is a very solid player.I think Jamie Carroll is what is great about this game. Yes,he is old. I paid close attention to him last year. He loves the game. He prepares for every game. He is usually the first guy out for warm ups. The last one to leave after autographs. You can see he does not like to lose, but does with dignity. Love the guy. Wish we had 39 more like him! Winning is so over emphasized. I love the game! I am glad to say i am a twins fan win or lose.

Good dependable player for the Twins....too bad he wasn't a little more offensive orientated.... great fielder, and should help out with the young talent they have.....

I am guessing the best offensive and defensive lineup would be to have Carroll play shortstop and Dozier at 2nd. Not strong but adequate. I am hoping Rosario will develop well and be our .300 batting 2nd baseman for the next 10 years. Hopefully Santana will do the same at shortstop (except I don't expect quite as much offense from him).

Contrary to popular belief Span and Revere did not do such a great job of getting on base last year. If Hicks can get on .340 of the time and Carroll gets on .350 we will have improved the top of the order.

Clasa act and fits his role well. Two of my favorite teams of all time are gone...the Minnesota North Stars and the Montreal Expos!

He's somebody that you're happy to cheer for.

Since we let Red get away, Jamie is one of those type of players you would eventually love to have coach or manage in your organization---if he ever quits playing.
