You don't want to work? Well, you don't get paid. I wish I could make that much plus extras on the side for teaching.

Unfortunately, management does not recognize how their intransigence is the biggest obstacle to moving forward. Or, perhaps they do understand well enough, and it's just one ingredient in the recipe of union-busting. (supervon2, there's not enough room here to explain to you how highest-level performing artists are compensated for their expertise and performance. I will say, though you may not be listening, that the musicians Do In Fact Want To Work. A "lockout" is quite different from a "strike".)

35 year subscriber opinion. I do not trust management because they did not come to subscribers to report the situation before the lock out. That is management's responsibility, not that of the union members. I would have wanted to pay more and to join effort to secure funding... if I had known. I think management seeks to discard the musicians. This situation cries out for new management. I will not subscribe if we lose OUR MUSICIANS. I do not want replacement artists. I appreciate the art conscious wealthy supporters, but if they are okay with this situation, I would be surprised. I want tax support for arts, including the SPCO. -Robert Perschmann
