Old Polaroids, vintage brooches and wilted letters on onion skin paper have a way of acquiring special meaning — because they help us remember those we loved. Don’t relegate these heirlooms to some dusty attic.

What happens to all these scrapbooks, photo albums and other heirlooms when the next generation doesn't want to warehouse stuff that was meaningful to you but not them?

Alienmob - Hopefully some of it will be donated to a historical society, or maybe another family member will take them. In some of mine, there are pages of events that happened at my church. I'd like those to go to my church. Hopefully my niece and nephew will like the rest (especially since they're in it). Otherwise they can do what so many other people do, throw it out. Seriously though, I love all the old photos that my Grandparents and Great-grandparents saved. I think it's great.
