I kicked in $20. Good on ya, Mr. Harris.
Awesome. Some panhandlers out there are just out to get what they can and some just want to get by. He could have played stupid or tried to avoid giving the ring back and tried to make a few bucks off it but he did what was right. I am glad that for once an honest person is getting a kick back. That one good deed appears to have changed his life. Strib please post more about this story and see where this takes this man.
I often see posts on here complaining about panhandlers/homeless people in downtown Minneapolis as if they are worthless. Hopefully people will remember this story before making similar comments in the future.
He's a very nice and moral man. There are a lot of people out there like him but because of their circumstances no one stops to see it. I work with older people and they are fantastic people. My life would almost be a waste of my time if they weren't in it. Reach out people. See who's out there. Extend yourself. You will be the better for it. I have never gone home and said, "I'm so tired from helping people and being nice to them". Volunteer.
