Too bad for BBY, but hope to see Richfield get hosed on a soon to be empty campus. I guess throwing your residents under the bus by using eminent domain didn't work out too well.

Too bad Mark Dayton's policies are making it less attractive to employ people here in Minnesota. The business hostile environment will harm our state.

I wonder how many people that will leave in their nice office building. I've been though downsizes like this and it's really not any fun at all for anyone.

greg, What do you mean? Increased corporate taxes, tax on clothing and food, and attempting to force private business to Unionize isn't pro-business?

I feel for these employees but this is a sinking ship. Good to get out early. I don't know why anybody would shop here. Utterly frustrating experience when I go in there.

Unfortunately, Best Buy like so many other companies forgot its' core market. When they started trying to sell appliances and vacuum cleaners they lost me. Stick to what you know and excel at it. Big box mentality has killed many American companies.

I find it funny that when a company of 160,000 employees lays off 400 of them, it is big news. That is only 0.25% of their workforce. Chances are that would happen organically over the course of a year just by trimming a little dead weight. However, I do have sympathy for those that may have lost their jobs because of this but it isn't a signal that the company is in dire straits.

I hate to see people lose their jobs, because I've been there, but this is the right move by the company to be more competitive. If they don't make this move and the company goes under, then everybody loses their job. FrankL, if Best Buy were to leave that Richfield campus, there would be multiple companies clamoring to locate their headquarters there. Nice newer campus, centrally located, and close to the airport. Their phones would be ringing off the hook the minute they announced that they were vacating. Wells Fargo, for one, would beg to have that space. So nothing bad will happen to Richfield.
