I am all for unions and I am all for workers in day care centers getting better pay, but I dont believe in unionizing in home daycare. If you want to get union pay, you work at a union daycare not in a private home.

What a crock. I read the article twice, and remain mystified as to what problem the union is needed for. It's just more automatic union dues - even if you're a provider that doesn't want to be in the union. And over 90% of political contributions by the stated unions go to democrat candidates. It's called payola.

This is a scam to siphon off funds to the DFL. Union dues would be deducted directly from payments made to providers and who would have no say as to their being contributed to Democrat campaigns. It has already occurred in Michigan, and it stinks.

Not this again. I thought a well seasoned and reasoned judge stopped this in its tracks.

Munt said various AFSCME groups spent about 1million dollars to help DFL....... Don't they really mean BRIBE? Is this the most ridiculous idea to come from the governor?

This article is heavily slanted towards unionization, and it's bordering on propaganda. There is no journalism, no discussion of what is currently wrong and what unionization would fix (other than some things that it doesn't seem that the providers want to have "fixed"). As a democrat, I agree that unions probably provide better working conditions for workers than normally would exist without unions. However, you cannot force people into unions if they don't want to be in them.

If you force private daycares to join a union, don't be surprised if many of them close up and then there will be an even greater shortage of good daycares. Unions should not be able to tell in home, private daycares, what to do and they should not be able to steal their money with union dues. I would NEVER take my kids to a unionized daycare.

DFL, the party of "choice" until they decide people are forced to join a union instead of deciding for themselves. Pathetic... Elections do have consequences.
