Once again we have a father making decisions that needlessly place his family in jeopardy. Like the guy who drove his family under a bridge over a channel on Lake Minnetonka and caused the death of his infant. Or the guy last year or the year before who went sailing in a small sailboat with his kids and killed them. Also the guy who flew himself and his two young sons into the side of a mountain, apparently so he could be back home in MN on time. If people want to take risks, great, go ahead and do it. But don't drag your wife and kids into it too unless you are experienced, well prepared, and have things planned out. Here we have a guy who takes a 29 foot sailboat out into the ocean with his wife and two small children. This is fine if the boat is sufficiently seaworthy and has proper communications and navigation (e.g. GPS) equipment, a life raft, an emergency locator beacon, exposure suits, etc. Apparently, these items were an afterthought to this father.
