"Republicans say spending cuts trump defense"---Until something happens again that is. Then the tea party extremists republicans will blame the other side of the fence. Not much for the extremists democrats either but this one really takes the crown on being partisan and reckless and ignorant. Aren't they still complaining about not having enough security and now saying they should cut spending to security? These clowns need to be voted out of office. All of them. The hard working, tax paying middle class is getting really tired of the extremists republicans protecting the billionaires of the world from paying taxes.

The Republican's have just thrown one of their most powerful allies under the bus. Regardless of what happens next there is a massive political shift happening right now.

Glad to see the Republicans hold their ground. Time to cut spending, period. Taxes were raised on January 1, now it's time for cuts. Sacred cows of social security and medicare should be next.

Maybe Obama can finally earn that Nobel Peace Prize and cut, cut, cut the Endless War Department.

Democrats and liberals have demanded defense spending cuts for years. You got it! Now watch them complain. People need to be held accountable. Obama wanted this and he got it. You need to be careful what you wish for. Your bluff has been called!

At last some sense coming out of the mouths of republicans! Deep, deep cuts in defense are needed to restore some balance to our budget!

This NYT op ed is a bunch of rubbish. The Sequester will cut the total Federal Budget by a small 2.3%. Now how is that going to have the effects on our country that the media and current administration would have you believe? If the President would show any leadership, he would make recommendations on how to transfer funds within the budget to Congress, ask them to act, and then the effects on the country would be negilegible. The problem that the main streem media (including the S&T) want to avoid is the real problem with our deficit spending, the entitlements. That is where we must focus our reform.

I am so happy! According to liberals the GOP is dead so this really won't affect them anyway. They wanted defense spending cut and now their dream becomes reality. I hope they enjoy it.
