Gophers need to find the "Full 60 Minutes" button before the NCAA tournament. So frustrating watching this talented team play at a mediocre level. Bjugstad tied for 33rd in league-play scoring; he was better last year. Good call on not getting Ryan Walters in a Gopher uniform- he's only leading the league in scoring (league play along with Kristo). Apparently, he was ready to play WCHA hockey!!!! The Don better get better get this Porsche out of 2nd gear before NCAA. Motzko and Hastings are getting a lot more out of their Chevy's. Top 6 scorers for Gophers didn't register a point last night; big guns are supposed to fire this time of year. Great to see a glimpse of Mike Reilly's future. Sam Warning is playing well and showing talent that makes him a top-6 forward. Granted Wilcox has very good numbers, but looks shakey as of late. He's given up more soft goals in the last 5-6 games than he did in the previous 26-28. That's an NCAA-run killer.

The fact that UMD and Minnesota played to an overtime tie Saturday should hardly come as a news flash. The two clubs had met 16 times since March 2008 and 11 of those meetings have been decided by one goal or less, including six which required an extra session. UMD's roater inludes 9 freshmen! This is a rebuilding year, yet they played the Gophers even for most of the weekend. I have to give credit where it's due...these kids showed tons of hustle and scrapped for every puck all over the rink. Can't say the same for the Gophers.

How can Lucia be happy with the effort? The top line has not been effective for weeks. If Haula and Condon were not playing at a high level, this team would be in real trouble. Only one sweep in conference this year is not acceptable.

Duluth is not a very good team. Again its coach is satisfied with mediocrity. Lucia...YOU ARE RANKED NUMBER 2, playing a bad team. Just like last weekend, you needed a sweep but are happy with the outcome? No surprise players under Lucia never reach their full potential as Lucia is very SOFT.

Helgeson is a minus 5. Holl is a zero in the plus minus. 2 players that week in and week out provide little for this team. They may be the only 2 that does not have a positive plus minus on the team. I would definitely keep Michaelson when Ambrose comes back and bench Holl. Parenteau is playing much better than Helgeson and should get his starting spot back on defense. Helgeson just looks lost.

I think we're doing one pass too many on each play. Trying to be too cute. Fire it at the net as much as possible, eventually bounces, rebounds and dirty goals will happen.

Gophers need to sweep Denver this weekend or kiss the WCHA goodbye. I would be fitting for SCSU to win the last WCHA title in honor of Herb Brooks disciple Craig Dahl. I expected more from Bjugstad, scoring 20 or 30 goals, he's been a big disappointment the past 2 yrs. Big, strong, but fizzzle, sput, sput, and a cloud of smoke. This team needs to find a new gear and show us they can win a NCAA title. Lets go, turn it on!!!

They didn't look very good last night - sluggish, tired, didn't really seem to care. And as was mentioned in another comment, UMD is not a very good team this year, should have been an easy 4 points. And what did happen to the first line, they really haven't been doing anything as of late. I get more excited to see Condon, Haula, Warning out to see what he can do than Bjugstad, Rau, etc.

Face it the Gophers are" soft" and they play like all they have to do is lace their skates up and hit the ice.Must be getting ready for the new Cupcake Conference they will be in.

Yea, a very disappointing result for the Gophers. Bjugstad, Haula, Rau and Schmidt better turn on the after burners soon and play to their full potential or the season will come to an end early-yet again. I have never seen a coach get so little out of talented players year after year.
