Over the last four years, I've felt the "fury" of racking up trillion plus dollar annual deficits. Cut, cut, cut.....or we follow Spain and Greece. People are not buying the scare tactics any longer.

Strib: Fury? Do your readers a service. Explain who caused the cut (Obama) and how small it actually is. Relatively speaking, it is like a regular coffee vs. a latte. Come on gang!

In the second paragraph the writer used "could", "may", and "possibly". And, and.....the sun may never come out again....and and kittens may never purr...and and children will never laugh. All this will happen if we cut a small percentage from our national spending

This on top of Dayton's budget proposal don't bode well for the Minnesota economy and jobs outlook.

Let's see, the Republicans control the House by a slim majority, the Democrats have the Oval Office, which is doing NOTHING but adding to our disgraceful debt and they control the Senate. But here we have another article written to scare people into thinking a 2% cut in federal spending will be disastrous. Why didn't the Strib post the photos of Senators Franken and Klobuchar at the top of this article? Do they not share responsibility ? Where is the so called compromise from the President, who's gotten pretty much everything he's asked for from the Republican House in the last two budget deals?

During his campaigns Obama mentioned getting rid of programs that were not working. So here's a great opportunity to that. There is easily 2% waste in federal spending. Find it and cut it, and stop all this wailing and fear mongering.

What I find simply amazing is the power of 85 billion in our ecomony of almost 16 trillion and a federal budget of 3.5 trillion. If we cannot prioritize and force government to economize for 2 cent out of every 100 dollars- the game is over. This is less than chump change- this is nothing. Further- we do we never see an article from the Tribune telling us what positives and economic growth we get from 85 billion in the private sector??? Why don't we hear about the Dept of Agriculture laying of dozens of ecnonomist? Reason? Doesn't play well with the narrative. Wake up- we are printing money to buy our own Treasure Bonds- soon this will crash and the pain this article pretends to present will be nothing compared to this pain

The responses to these articles are so predictable. Complaints about Obama spending too much money should be heard, but putting the party that started two endless, expensive wars back in charge is hardly the answer to our fiscal woes.

I think some people do need a reality check. First, the sequester was bi-partisan. No other discussion is needed on that. It's a fact. Second, austerity cuts hurt people and if that is what the republican party wants to advocate, then deal with it. Nobody is arguing that cuts need to be made and it should not even be a premise in this conversation. What the argument/discussion should be, is where the cuts should be made. The republicans have presented two plans, both so loaded with poison pills and they expect the democrats to accept this? I honestly believe there are a ton of aging Americans reading articles like this and watching the media, and wondering why the attack is on medicare and social security, when a certain segment of our society insists on world domination, nation building, military control of the entire world, and increasing our military presence. And please don't tell me that is only a drop in the bucket. How's that kind of spending and philosophy working out for North Korea? No, let the sequester happen, and see where the military in this country has its priorities. Eisenhower, was totally correct.

How many more silly scare stories do we have to have. You would think there will be real spending cuts instead of a smaller increase in spending this year than some wanted. How did we ever survive last year when we spent less than we will this year? Please people, move along, nothing to see here.
